About Our Workshops
The Mannings Handweaving School and Supply Center is located in picturesque and historic Adams County, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., along the banks of the Conewago Creek. This serene and peaceful setting is ideal for relaxing and learning the basics of spinning and weaving . Schedule Please see the Calendarfor a schedule of special workshops and beginner classes to be offered at the Studio. The specialized weaving workshops are for intermediate and experienced weavers only. Weaving classes are taught on a variety of pre-warped Jack and Counterbalanced looms in our large air-conditioned studio. Classes are also offered in beginning and intermediate knitting and beginning crochet. Come and spend 1, 2, 3, or 5 days studying and learning without the distractions of the outside world. Classes Classes are scheduled from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. (unless otherwise noted) but students have unlimited access to the studio looms and library. Reservations Reservations should be made as soon as possible. You may call the Studio to request that a space be reserved until your deposit arrives. Space will only be held for 2 weeks without a deposit. To register, simply print our Registration Form, fill it out and mail it to us. The balance of the fee will be due 5 weeks prior to the date of the class. A confirmation letter will be sent 3 weeks prior to the class. This letter will include the list of items you will need to bring for the class, any accommodation information and a map. Payment/Refund Policy A $50.00 deposit for 1 and 2 day classes and $100.00 deposit for 3 to 5 days classes or 1/2 the class fee if the class fee is less than $50.00 is required to hold your space . Deposits are not refundable. The balance is due 5 weeks prior to the class. Students who cancel less than one month prior to the class will have their fee refunded minus the deposit, only if we can fill the class with a student from our waiting list. Accomodations Would you like to attend a class but think you live too far away? Never fear, we can provide transportation from Harrisburg International Airport and the bus station in York. Come and enjoy the company of other weavers or bring a weaving friend. Stay in the farmhouse. Three students can be accommodated in one room. The three students share a bathroom. A continental breakfast will be provided. Students will have use of a fully equipped kitchen (including microwave, gas grill and dishwasher) to prepare their meals. No smoking is permitted in the house or in the studio. If you would rather stay elsewhere, we will make reservations at the Cross Keys Motor Inn as they offer us a special rate. There are several very nice Bed & Breakfasts in the area.
