Our two day rigid heddle class has been designed for those who are interested in learning a very simple and portable technique for creating plain weave garments. The class will cover fundamental information including warp calculations, appropriate yarn choices as well as explore two different techniques for dressing the loom. Students will be warping with an assortment of yarns provided by the weaving studio. Looms will be provided for instructional use and available for purchase concluding the class. For those students who have a rigid heddle loom already, you are encouraged to bring your equipment along in order to get to know it better. Class limited to 6

Color & Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom

This workshop will highlight some of the amazing visual effects one can achieve using two contrasting colors in plain weave on the rigid heddle loom. This two-day workshop will give students an opportunity to weave samples in a round robin fashion on 10 different pre-warped looms using 3/2 Perle cotton in many different colors. The workshop will expand on student’s knowledge of using two shuttles at the same time, the treatment of selvedge edges using two shuttles and instruction on following color and weave patterns. Students will gain new understanding into warping their looms to create these uniquely striped patterns and how to plan their own color and weave projects. Class Limit to 8

You’ve mastered basic rigid heddle, and you’re ready to take the jump &
explore all the other possibilities your rigid heddle has to offer. In this
class students will be introduced to a wide array of techniques used to
create surface textures, lace elements, color & weave techniques, weaving
with fine yarns with the use of two heddles & much more. Students will be working on pre-warped looms and will be weaving small placemat size samples on 8 different looms in a round-robin fashion. Enjoy a fun filled two days of experimentation & exploration. Students are encouraged to bring novelty type yarns from their own stash, inspiration pieces & lots of questions! Class limited to 6.
