The perfect jacket, simple or artful, requires beautiful fabric plus a great deal of thought and planning. This two day class will walk you through the process that takes our jacket from dream to reality. Students will choose a design from 3 patterns chosen by the instructor, make a mock up for fitting purposes, sketch, choose fabrics from their collection, determine what support is needed inside, plan the embellishment if desired, and begin constructing their garment. Included will be discussion of commercial and independent patternns, pattern fit and ease, fabrics both purchased and hand-woven, interfacings, nderlinings, linings, seam finishes, garment card, embellishment and embellishment support. Pressing and sewing equipment will be demonstrated and an optional Saturday evening fabric shopping trip is planned. This is a great class if you are getting back to sewing after a break or want to design and create jackets from your handwoven fabrics. Materials fee payable to the instructor. Class limited to 8.

Are you tired of searching the stores for comfortable, well fitting pants?
Do you have intermediate level sewing skills? Spend a weekend with Rae
Cumbie, custom dressmaker and sewing educator and leave with a pants patten
for a classic flat front woman’s pant. You can decide where to put the
waistband, or facing, if you want a fly front, or side or back zipper,
pockets, and the width of the leg. Rae will help you customize your pattern
and make your first pair of fabulous pants. Kit fee payable to the
instructor includes pattern, pattern transfer paper and waistband
interfacing. $30. Class limited to 8
